Dr. Dre's first album in over 15 years is out this week

03 August 2015, 09:30 | Written by Laurence Day

Dr. Dre has announced his first album in over 15 years, and it's out this Friday (7 August).

The record was announced via Dre's Apple Music radio show, The Pharmacy, over the weekend. It will be called Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre, and it will be Dre's final album.

Inspired by N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton, the record is described as a "compilation-style" record, and it will feature guest spots from frequent collaborators such as Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and The Game.

His long mooted LP Detox has been scrapped; Dre said on his show that the record failed to meet his standards and would not be released: "The record, it just wasn't good… I worked my ass off on it, and I don't think I did a good enough job... I just wasn’t feeling it."

Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre is out 7 August via Aftermath/Interscope. It follows 1999 record 2001, and you can pre-order it now.

Stream the radio show with Dre below, and then check out the artwork and tracklist afterwards.
