Dolly Parton and Kelly Clarkson have recorded a new version of "9 to 5" for upcoming documentary
A new version of Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" with Kelly Clarkson will feature in the upcoming documentary Still Working 9 to 5, which will premiere at SXSW 2022.
As Variety reports, Parton has teamed up with Kelly Clarkson on a new version of her hit "9 to 5", and it'll feature in Still Working 9 to 5, a new documentary that "explores why workplace inequality is no laughing matter in the 40 years since the seminal comedy, 9 to 5 was released in 1980."
The documentary is set to premiere at SXSW this year, and the new version of "9 to 5" is, according to documentary co-director/producer Camille Hardman, "a little bit melancholic."
Co-director/producer Gary Lane told Variety, "We could do a documentary just on the making of the duet."
Parton and Clarkson recorded their vocals in November and December last year, and also filmed themselves in the studio for a music video.
Lane added, "Dolly actually called it "9 to 5: The Slow Version". It’s definitely slowed down and more haunting. Kelly - you can’t believe how she changes it, too. It’s really mind blowing."
