DJ Derek to retire after announcing his final show
In his 71 years on this earth, Derek ‘DJ Derek‘ Morris has been a major player in the reggae/dub scene. After regular slots at Glastonbury, Bestival and developing a strong young following, DJ Derek is ready to call it a day and retire.
Before the legacy ends, the Bristol-based disc jockey has announced that his last ever show will be on New Years Eve when he retains his regular spot at the Notting Hill Arts Club in Sheffield.
When interviewed by We Love Cool Beans, DJ Derek had this say: “I will be 72 the fortnight before I do my last ever gig, and while I’m reasonably healthy it’ll be nice to do some travelling without carting my gear around!”
DJ Derek had previously announced his retirement from outdoor events and festivals.
