Back in January Drake confirmed that his Certified Lover Boy album was no longer dropping that month so he could focus on recovering from a recent surgery.

He did confirm that it'll be released in 2021, and last week DJ Akademiks provided an update on the release of Drake's album during a livestream on Thursday (25 February). DJ Akademiks shut down rumours that Drake's new album was dropping as a surprise that night (25 February), and went on to reveal what Drake told him directly, "Drake told me that it's going to be dropping before April so he's not waiting until summer to drop his shit. I don't wanna say before April... April or before. But the reason why I'm saying it's not dropping tonight, as in Thursday night, is because he's spent so much time on this project that he's not trying to put out a surprise project. He's gonna let people know at least a week before, bro."

Last night (1 March) DJ Akademiks provided another Drake update, this time on Twitter, addressing the "What's Next" leak, as well as revealing Drake is shooting music videos and might even release something this week.

He wrote, "Drake told me to sit tight n relax... he said that "Whats Next" record is just a 'warm up ting'. He's working overtime creating this next masterpiece... CLB on da way... fr."

The DJ added, "He also told me he shooting some videos.. prollly drop something this week. The Goat is back. Aubrey Champagne Papi Drake Graham."

Before signing off, DJ Akademiks wrote, "Thats yall Drake update.. the source is - The Boy."

He also uploaded a 24-second clip of Drake shooting a new music video from a car.

Drake is yet to announce a new release date for Certified Lover Boy.
