Deerhunter look set to announce a new album, possibly titled Fading Frontier
Deerhunter have left a lot of evidence lately that the follow up to their latest record Monomania is imminent.
Monomania was released in 2013 to significant acclaim.
There's a countdown on their official website which ends at 4a.m. (U.K. time), and it's expected that the four-piece will announce a record named Fading Frontier - there's nothing official on that yet, but there's a few clues suggesting that's the title, and that it'll drop on 16 October.
You can sign up for a mailing list on the website, and if you click the dog you'll head to a page that sees frontman Bradford Cox morphing into a his canine companion, Faulkner (which also explains the page's URL). Some excited individuals have had a root around in the page's code already, which has apparently thrown up a lot of references to 'Fading Frontier' - bolstering rumours of the upcoming LP's moniker.
Fading Frontier - if, indeed, that is what it's called - is expected in the near future via 4AD.
Deerhunter have announced a range of festival shows for this autumn, including Le Guess Who? and Pitchfork Music Festival Paris.
Cox recently posted a playlist to Spotify called Humidity Color Index which you can check out below. Stereogum are speculating that it could be a playlist of influences on the new record, but who knows.
