Deerhoof cover Sleater-Kinney's "Don't Talk Like" on new EP
Deerhoof have covered Sleater-Kinney's "Don't Talk Like" for Kill Rock Stars' 30th anniversary cover series, and it features on their new Deerhoof Sandwich EP.
As part of Kill Rock Stars' 30th anniversary covers series Stars Rock Kill (Rock Stars), Deerhoof have covered two songs - Sleater-Kinney's "Don't Talk Like" and LiliPUT's "Hitch-Hike".
According to Stereogum, Deerhoof said of the Sleater-Kinney track, "KRS has an enormous catalogue. How do you choose? Something about the Sleater-Kinney song though, we had to try it. We wanted to celebrate one of these magic moments when they sounded like they didn’t quite know what they were doing…when emotions were revelations, and dissonances collided in some mystery universe between intention and accident. We relate to that part of us that works just like a child. We wanted to take a question mark of a song and not answer it."
The covers also appear on a new EP titled Deerhoof Sandwich, which also features four Deerhoof songs covered by the likes of Shutups, Death Cab For Cutie's Dave Depper and more.
