Sweden's Death In The Afternoon venture into disco-flecked '80s pop with "Let Go" [Premiere]

21 August 2015, 14:27 | Written by Laurence Day

Swedish pop pair Death In The Afternoon are debuting a new cut called "Let Go" to kickstart the weekend.

The Scandinavian outfit, named after an Ernest Hemingway novel and/or a potent cocktail, infuse a peppy '80s synthpop with disco beats, wild guitars, and effervescent hooks. It's a speedy number, sure to get the pulses racing, and it's a perfect way to saunter into this weekend with a skip in your step.

Speaking about the track, the band say: "The lead synth in 'Let Go' is actually from an old song, made around the time of our last album. When we added the disco drums and raised the tempo quite a bit, the rest of the song kind of wrote itself. It’s quite different from what we normally do, but it makes us wanna try a dance move or two…(even though we can’t dance.)"

"Let Go" will be released via Summer Heart’s label Sommarhjärta on 4 September. It's taken from their upcoming debut LP, expected at some point later this year.
