DAWN teams up with Adult Swim for new partnership
DAWN has announced a new partnership with Adult Swim which will see her provide opportunities for black creatives.
Rap-Up reports that DAWN, aka Dawn Richard, will be the first black artist to be a creative consultant for the channel.
DAWN released "Easy" last year via Adult Swim's Singles series.
The partnership will see Richard provide opportunities for black creatives across the channel's online and linear platforms.
She says of the partnership, "It’s been a long-term mission of mine to push down barriers and break ceilings for voices that are often unheard or overlooked. I’ve loved working with Adult Swim over the last five years and I really wanted to do more than just use the platform for myself. I want to give other black creatives the chance to shine and see more of us in this space. The time is now to push for change."
DAWN will be looking for black animators and artists to create music videos, content for social media, and pitches for new series on the Adult Swim channel.
Jason DeMarco, SVP & Creative Director for On-Air for Adult Swim, says of working with DAWN, "I’ve had the pleasure of working with DAWN for several years now, and whether she’s on stage, directing, animating, dancing, designing or anything else, she has always blown us away. I’m thrilled she’ll be helping us find more black talent and continuing to add her voice to Adult Swim’s creative world."
