David Bowie gives first new album interview as 'word flowchart'
David Bowie has finally broken his seemingly strict vow of silence following the release of his recent album, The Next Day, speaking to literary journal The Rumpus about the ideas behind his latest work.
And quite literally they are simply ideas, given in single word form. As American author Rick Moody writes, he “somehow persuaded David Bowie to part with a few words on the subject of this album” all because Bowie “”once mentioned me in a complimentary way from a stage, in New York City, in the later nineties”.
The result is a flow of words from Bowie, 42 to be exact, that should have some telling resemblance to the themes explored in greater detail on the record. And here those are:
