Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin cover Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" for first Hanukkah Sessions release
Dave Grohl and producer Greg Kurstin have shared their version of Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" for their first of eight covers to be released over Hanukkah.
The Hanukkah Sessions was announced by Grohl and Kurstin on Wednesday night (9 December), and saw them commit to releasing eight covers by eight different Jewish artists, with a cover being released across each of the eight days of Hanukkah (10-18 December).
Last night marked the start of Hanukkah, so Grohl and Kurstin shared their rendition of Beastie Boys' "Sabotage", with Grohl leading on vocals and drums, and Kurstin on keys.
Grohl wrote of their cover, "As the only Rock and Roll Hall Of Famers with a lyric about kugel, we thought it would be a shanda to not kick off this party with New York’s (and Abraham’s) finest…known by some as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abedenego, known by others as Ad-Rock, Mike D, and MCA…known by their Imas and Abbas as Adam Horovitz, Mike Diamond and Adam Yauch… Beastie Boys!"
Grohl and Kurstin are yet to reveal the other seven tracks being covered over Hanukkah.
