Das Racist's Himanshu Suri announces new solo LP as Heems
Heems, AKA Das Racist founder Himanshu Suri, has announced his debut solo LP and dropped the lead track, "Sometimes".
Heems' first full-length will be titled Eat, Pray, Thug, looks to be as unpigeonholeable as his Das Racist material. He blends "the highs and lows of the music business, failed relationships, racism, the working class struggle, to tales of substance abuse, anxiety and depression" with block rockin' beats, lush melodies and a sense of humour. The press release states that he "delves into his first hand experience being blocks away from Ground Zero [on 9/11] and the subsequent racism he and his community were subjected to."
The record will also feature collaborations with Dev Hynes, Harry Fraud, Rafiq Bhatia, Gordon Voidwell and Booby B.
Eat, Pray, Thug is out 9 March on Greedhead/Megaforce Records.
