Daniel Blumberg (formerly of Yuck) has signed to Mute and announced a new record
Daniel Blumberg - who's released material with/as Yuck, Oupa, Cajun Dance Party, and Hebronix - is back with "Minus", the first song from his debut album on new label Mute.
Visuals for "Minus" were shot in the shed where Blumberg wrote much of the album and produced the artwork; award-winning Hungarian film editor David Jancso (White God, The Childhood Of A Leader) edited the clip in Budapest.
The almost-six-minute track is the lead preview of a deeply personal record which mixes a heady "improvisational, free-music ethos" with earnest pop hallmarks. The album - also titled Minus - was recorded with producer Peter Walsh (Scott Walker) during a brisk five-day session in Wales, and it features contributions from Tom Wheatley, Billy Steiger, Jim White, and Ute Kanngiesser.
Blumberg will take his new music out on the road this summer, with shows in London, Brighton, and Totnes confirmed. Find out more.
