Damien Jurado previews new album with opening track "Birds Tricked into the Trees"
Damien Jurado has shared new single "Birds Tricked into the Trees", the opening track from his new LP What’s New, Tomboy?.
"Birds Tricked into the Trees" is Jurado's first new release since his 2019 album In The Shape of a Storm, and is also the opening track from his new record What's New, Tomboy?.
In the bio for the new album, Jurado says, "I got rid of almost everything I owned. It was almost like I had died, honestly. You know that feeling when someone dies and you have to clear out their apartment or their house? That’s what I did. It was as if I had died, even though I was still living. I donated five of my guitars to a thrift shop."
Expanding on the impact his donations have had on his music, Jurado adds, "I left out certain instruments on purpose, so you’re making space for the listener to fill in their own melodies and parts."
