Daft Punk set for first UK number one & best-selling single of year so far
French electro duo and overall hype-merchants, Daft Punk are on track to score their first UK number one single this week with ‘Get Lucky’ – also looking likely to achieve the highest sales figures of any single weekly release in 2013 so far.
The pair, who recruited both Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers for the track, had already sold 101,853 copies by the end of yesterday – dwarfing the 58,834 sold with ‘One More Time’ in 2000.
Daft Punk need just over 10,000 more units shifted to top the year’s biggest-selling single ‘ What About Us by The Saturdays and Sean Paul, which sold 114,259 in its first week.
Last week, ‘Get Lucky’ managed to reach the UK Singles Chart third spot after a mere 48 hours of being on sale.
