Last week, the woman who accused Conor Oberst of rape issued a statement retracting her original claims. Now, the Bright Eyes singer has dropped his libel legal case.
Oberst had previously released a statement saying he has “accepted” the apology, but now Buzzfeed reports that the Omaha musician filed a document to dismiss the case on Friday (18 July).
Oberst had been previously suing Joanie Faircloth (real name Joan Elizabeth Harris) for $1 million following the claims. Faircloth later described her remarks as being “100% false”, explaining that she was “going through a difficult period” at the time of the comments.
