Conor Oberst confirms new solo album, writes screenplay about Monsters Of Folk
As previously reported, Bright Eyes svengali Conor Oberst has been recording a new solo LP with Jonathan Wilson. Now, he’s reveals some more details on the release in interview with Rolling Stone.
His first full-length since his band’s 2011 album The People’s Key, the album will feature vocals from First Aid Kit, who sing throughout the entire release. It also could have included more big names too: “I tried to work with some big-name producers,” he told the publication. “And it was like, ‘This dude doesn’t know shit from shit’.”
Oberst also revealed how he wrote a screenplay based on his time with folk supergroup Monsters Of Folk (which also featured Jim James, M Ward and Mike Mogis). That project was described by the singer as ”an allegory about how the Internet is destroying humanity”, but sadly doesn’t look likely to see the light of day.
