Condé Nast, owner of Vogue and Vanity Fair, acquires Pitchfork Media
Condé Nast, the publisher who owns Vogue and Vanity Fair, has added music site Pitchfork to its roster.
They've acquired Pitchfork Media, the parent company behind the website, festivals, and quarterly magazine (which is set to continue under the new owners), for an "undisclosed sum". The acquisition takes immediate effect.
Condé Nast's chief digital officer Fred Santarpia, who headed up the deal, says that it gives the company “a very passionate audience of millennial males."
Pitchfork founder Ryan Scheiber adds: “Pitchfork is incredibly fortunate to have found in Condé Nast a team of people who share our commitment to editorial excellence. Their belief in what we do, combined with their additional expertise and resources, will allow us to extend our coverage of the artists and stories that shape the music landscape on every platform.”
Pitchfork this year celebrates its 20th birthday.
