Cheatahs entertain Blink 182’s Mark Hoppus at London’s 100 Club
London’s legendary 100 Club has played host to a great number of acts throughout the years, and it seemed to make something of an impression on Cheatah’s lead singer Dean Reid as he remarked “This is a pretty cool place. I was just looking at these pictures of Keith Richards and Jeff Beck on the wall. Wow.” Yet, this realisation did not seem to make the four piece nervous, as they delivered a tight, hour-long set.
The intimate venue was pitch black, asides from an overhead projector that displayed a myriad of visuals, from girls playing hide-and-seek in grave yards to penguins at London Zoo, it provided a serene quality to the shoegazey rock that reverberated through the room.
It was a night of heavy, noisy blasts of chaotic shoegaze that incited excitement, and even saw Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus in the crowd. The set spanned through crowd pleasers such as “Fall” and “Get Tight” and ended with a dramatic rendition of “The Swan” that was played to backdrop of firework visuals, creating a kind of dramatic atmosphere that brought the whole set to a climax.
