Charlotte Church to host third annual John Peel Lecture
Having earned her indie stripes recently with a series of career-revitalising EPs, Charlotte Church has now been chosen to give the third annual John Peel Lecture at the Radio Festival 2013 in Salford next month.
Church, who released her Three EP just last month, will “question and debate the roles held by women within the music economy”. The speech will air on BBC Radio 6Music on 14 October.
The singer and former child star will follow Billy Bragg and The Who’s Pete Townshend in hosting the lecture.
Church said of the honour: ”I’ve had some interesting times during the past 15 years, facing the same problems that many other women face when trying to forge their way in the music and entertainment worlds. I’m looking forward to encouraging a healthy debate around this important topic.”
