Brixton street party planned tonight to honour David Bowie's life
A street party in Brixton, London, is being planned for later tonight to commemorate the life and works of David Bowie.
Bowie passed away on 10 January at the age of 69 following an 18-month battle with cancer.
Tributes have poured in for the revolutionary star from varied sources, including heads of state, close collaborators, and the German Foreign Office.
It's clear that people are keen to demonstrate their love for Bowie in more active ways as well, with Rough Trade donating all profits from sales of Bowie records to Cancer Research this month.
Another public display of adoration will take place in Brixton tonight.
As NME note, a street party is planned, taking place at The Ritzy in Brixton. Bowie was born in the Brixton area of London on 8 January, 1947.
The Facebook event description reads:
"Bowie's time on this earth may be over, but he sure left us some great music. Today is a day to gather together and celebrate.
"Please share with anyone you think would be able to help with music or any other element of this event - bring instruments, speakers, food, and most importantly love."
