Brittany Howard unveils new offering "Stay High"
Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes has shared new single "Stay High" from her forthcoming debut solo record Jaime.
"Stay High" is the second single to be lifted from Howard's Jaime record, after last month's lead single "History Repeats".
The new single arrives with a music video directed by Kim Gehrig, and starring Terry Crews.
Jaime will arrive four years after Alabama Shakes' last album Sound & Color.
The record is named after her late sister, who taught her to write poetry and play piano, but died of cancer when they were still teenagers. "The title is in memoriam, and she definitely did shape me as a human being," says Howard. "But, the record is not about her. It’s about me. I’m pretty candid about myself and who I am and what I believe. Which is why I needed to do it on my own."
To record the album, Howard assembled a band made up of Alabama Shakes bassist Zac Cockrell, keyboard player Robert Glasper, and drummer Nate Smith.
