Bristol nightclub and music venue SWX damaged in early morning fire
Bristol nightclub and music venue SWX has been damaged in a fire that started in the early hours of this morning (13 July).
SWX, a 1100 capacity live music venue and 1800 capacity nightclub located in Bristol city centre, has been damaged after a fire broke out at the four-storey venue in the early hours if this morning.
According to Bristol Live, the fire service confirmed it received multipled calls about the fire around 4.35am, and just after 8am BST the fire appeared to have been put out.
The venue was due to host a sold out reopening party next Monday (19 July) to coincide with the lockdown restrictions being lifted in England, which will allow nightclubs and music venues to reopen at full capacity.
Marvin Rees, the Mayor of Bristol, tweeted this morning, "Such sad news for #Bristol's night time economy, just as the sector begins to recover after an incredibly tough year Thanks to Avon Fire & Rescue Service and Avon and Somerset Police teams from across the city who are tackling the fire at SWX on Nelson Street this morning."
