Brighton's Borderline Records closes after 33 years
Brighton independent record shop Borderline Records has announced its closure after over 30 years in business.
The store, located on the city’s Gardener Street, opened back in 1981 but the owners have now decided it is the right time to “move on”. Dave Minns and Sian Davis, 64, told local paper The Argus that their decision was down to both personal factors and an “increase in business rates” as well as changes in shopping trends.
“We are going to take some time out and do some other things – but hopefully still stay involved with music and sell off our stock online,” they told the paper. “While it is still a fantastic city, the old vibe has moved away.”
There is, however, talk of plans to open a smaller store elsewhere in the city. More news on that when we have it.
