
Bright Eyes announce reissue series with tracks featuring Phoebe Bridgers and Waxahatchee
Bright Eyes have announced plans to reissue their first three albums, and have shared songs with Phoebe Bridgers and Waxahatchee from the accompanying companion EPs.
The extensive reissue campaign will see Bright Eyes reissue all nine of their studio albums, beginning with their first three - A Collection of Songs Written and Recorded 1995-1997, Letting Off The Happiness and Fevers and Mirrors.
Bright Eyes will also team the reissues with a six-track companion EP that will feature five reworked songs from the original albums, as well as a cover of an artist they "found particularly inspiring at the time of the original recording."
Alongside the announcement of their reissue campaign, Bright Eyes have released three songs from the companion EPs, "Falling Out of Love At This Volume", "Contrast And Compare" featuring Waxahatchee, and "Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh" with Phoebe Bridgers. M Ward and Becky Stark will also make an appearance on the first three companion EPs.
Conor Oberst said of the reissue campaign, "It’s a meaningful way to connect with the past that doesn’t feel totally nostalgic and self-indulgent. We are taking these songs and making them interesting to us all over again. I like that. I like a challenge. I like to be forced to do something that’s slightly hard, just to see if we can."
