Brian Eno commissioned to make music for hospital radio
How many times have you described Brian Eno’s work as soothing or healing? Probably a fair bit, but now it seems official – with the electronic musician producing two pieces of original music to be used in hospitals.
As The Independent note, the electronic musicveteran has made two new compositions for the Montefiore Hospital in Hove. ‘Quiet Room For Montefiore’ is currently airing at the downstairs part of the building, while the reception is broadcasting a far more interesting piece. ’77 Million Paintings For Montefiore’ is a constantly-changing “generative music” soundscape, or so we’re told.
It’s been said that many other hospitals have since “expressed particular interest in Brian’s installations”, so maybe your next agonising procrastination in the waiting room won’t be so bad next time.
