Boards of Canada 'decoder record' for sale on Ebay, bids surpass $4500
As Boards of Canada prepare to release their much-anticipated Tomorrow’s Harvest LP, out 10 June, it looks like the duo’s hype is being felt all over all the internet. One surprising place in particular – Ebay.
Spin point out a bidding war waging over a vinyl record that plays as a sort of Da Vinci Code scroll, revealing a code that first broke the news of the duo’s forthcoming release, their first in eight years.
According to Spin, The —— / —— / —— / XXXXXX / —— / —— 12-inch “doesn’t include any actual music per se — just some static, some tones, and a robot reading numbers.” The record is currently going for more than $4500 and has already received 70 bids. The auction closes on 6 May.
While hardcore devotees may hash it out at the auctions, BOC’s new album will probably be more more satisfying and much less expensive, and there will also probably be more than one copy available.
