Blondie deny Debbie Harry retirement claims
Despite the band’s drummer revealing in a recent interview that Blondie could soon be calling it a day, the legendary New Wave group have since refuted any such claims.
Drummer Clem Burke told the Daily Mail: “Debbie is 11 years older than the rest of us, so it’s on her mind. We’ve tried to keep it going for as long as possible, but it’s not just up to me. Nothing is finalised yet, but obviously there’s no Blondie without Debbie Harry.”
But since, the band have taken to their Facebook page to suggest that Burke was misquoted, writing: “No plans to stop working, don’t believe everything you read.”
Blondie have a series of shows planned for September and October, and a tenth studio LP, Ghosts of Download, is due to coincide. The sparkling electro-funky first single from the album, featuring Gossip‘s Beth Ditto, is ‘A Rose By Any Name’.
