Bloc to leave Minehead

The Bloc Weekender is abandoning its seaside roots and changing venue.

The festival, which has traditionally been held in Butlins Minehead, will be expanding this year and is moving away from the resort, which the organisers said “could simply no longer handle so many visitors having such a good time at such a high octane, high volume event.”

Some attendees at this year’s fifth birthday celebrations reported having their chalets searched during the festival, although relations with security appeared reasonable overall.

The Weekender will also be held later in the year from 2012 onwards.

Dates and venue for Bloc 2012 will be announced soon.
