Beth Jeans Houghton unveils "Black Flag", her first track as Du Blonde

Du Blonde (FKA Beth Jeans Houghton) has unveiled a new rock 'n' roll belter titled "Black Flag".

Laced with gnarled axes and the most grizzled bass licks this side of the '70s, Du Blonde employs maximum swagger to summon noise of epic proportions. It's loud, it's gorgeously petulant, and it proudly waves a devil-may-care attitude. As far as first forays go, they don't arrive much more fully-formed or forceful.

Speaking about the opening gambit, Du Blonde says:

"I feel no need to ease people in... "Black Flag" is a good representation of the direction of the album. There are a few quieter, thoughtful tracks but the general mood is one of finally cracking. The record is a powerful release for me. It's the result of finally sitting down and taking a look at my life, what I was angry about, what I needed to change."

The track was produced by Bad Seed and Grinderman member Jim Sclavunos, as is much of the debut from Du Blonde, which is due out on Mute this Spring.
