Bestival announce Missy Elliott as Sunday headliner
Rap star Missy Elliott has been confirmed to headline Bestival, closing the annual gala's Sunday night.
The veteran hip-hop star, boasting a slew of hits like "Lose Control", "Get Ur Freak On" and "Work It", as well as a huge range of guest spots, will follow The Chemical Brothers' top spot on Saturday.
Earlier this year, Pharrell announced on TV that he was working on Elliott's seventh LP, her first in a decade.
Missy Elliott said of the spot: “I'm very excited to be performing at Bestival this year! I can't wait to see all my fans I haven't seen in some time… new ones and my day one fans! We are gonna have a blast together! Bring your dancing outfits and kicks!”
Bestival's organiser Rob da Bank added: “So, putting the final pieces together for the world’s most intricate jigsaw puzzle that is Bestival, I’m mighty proud to announce our Sunday headliner Missy Elliott. Needing no introduction Missy is the epitome of hip-hop royalty, the first lady of party-starting club bangers and a downright legend. I cannot wait to watch the most successful female rap artist ever to Work It at Bestival 2015!”
Missy Elliott joins the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Future Islands, Charli XCX, FKA Twigs, Tame Impala and more.
If Muse's Matt Bellamy is to be believed, the pomp-rock outfit are also headlining; this is yet to be officially confirmed however.
Bestival 2015 will take place at Robin Hill Country Park between 10-13 September. Tickets are on sale now, and you can get them here.
