Ben Whishaw favourite to play Freddie Mercury in biopic

Following Sacha Baron Cohen’s departure from the project earlier this year, British actor Ben Whishaw now looks the favourite to portray Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in an upcoming biopic film.

According to CMU, the late musician’s former bandmates Brian May and Roger Taylor discussed the project in a recent interview, stating that a thespian with the initials ‘BW’ was now leading the race.

Whishaw, age 33, is known for his roles in The Hour, James Bond: Skyfall and Nathan Barley.
