Ben Gibbard announces final two Postal Service performances
Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard has taken to Twitter to announce that the next two shows from his recently-reformed electro-pop side-project The Postal Service will be their ‘very last.’
While the group had only originally been one-album collaboration, their reunion tour – marking the 10th anniversary of 2003′s Give Up - appears to have only been a one-off also.
Gibbard tweeted:
Hey Chicago, these @PostalService shows at Lollapalooza and Metro will be our very last. Please come celebrate with us!

Gibbard previously told NME that he wasn’t interested in making Postal Service music anymore, saying ”I don’t have an aesthetic for that. Keeping up on new software technology, I’m not particularly interested in that.” He also said how ”making music in computers involves a lot of mouse time.”
If his last solo album was any indicator, his aesthetic involves more mariachi trumpets and acoustic instruments than Intel Pentium processors.
