BBC has unveiled its plans surrounding The Glastonbury Experience, which will replace this year's 50th anniversary Glastonbury Festival that was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Glastonbury Experience will include coverage from past Glastonbury festivals across BBC Television, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio and BBC Sounds.

As part of the celebration of the iconic festival, which had to postpone its 50th anniversary event until 2021, BBC Two, BBC Four and BBC iPlayer will be showing some iconic headline sets, including Adele (2016), Beyoncé (2011), Coldplay (2016), Jay Z (2008), and David Bowie (2000). This summer's coverage will be the first time Bowie's headline set has ever been broadcast in full on TV.

BBC iPlayer will also be home to a pop-up Glastonbury channel, which will feature sets from previous events, including 60 performances on-demand.

Lauren Laverne will be joined by Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis on her BBC 6 Music morning programme on 26 June, and Jo Whiley will also host some special shows on BBC Radio 2 from 22 June.

BBC Sounds will feature over 20 archive performances and "All Day Glastonbury" programmes that will feature back-to-back sets.

Emily Eavis says of the upcoming coverage, "There are so many memorable sets being played across the BBC over what would have been our 50th anniversary weekend. Personally, I’m looking forward to a weekend of reflecting on the history of our festival and going back to some classic performances from David Bowie, Adele, REM, Beyoncé, The Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, Billie Eilish and lots more. Me and my dad will definitely be watching!"
