BBC accused of “ignoring” Beyoncé's 'Chime For Change' womens rights concert
The promoter behind the past weekend’s Chime For Change concert in London has accused the BBC of “ignoring” the event due to their Glastonbury-centric bias.
Harvey Goldsmith, also one of the organisers behind Live Aid, told the Mail On Sunday: “The idea behind the concert is to launch a charity which will help millions of women and young girls around the world. In a lot of countries it went out live. In fact in most of them. I am disappointed that the BBC did not broadcast the event live.”
“I think all the BBC is interested is in Glastonbury,” he continued. “They have got about five million people working on it. It’s their jolly and everything else gets short shrift.”
The event took place on Saturday (1 June) at London’s Twickenham Stadium, featuring the likes of Florence and the Machine, Haim, Ellie Goulding, Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora, and calling for “change for girls and women”.
