BBC 6 Music has been confirmed as the biggest digital radio station in the UK, according to the recent Rajar report.
The report shows that the station, which was facing the axe just a few years back, attracts 1.9 million listeners a week – more than next leading competitor Radio 4 Extra.
It also says that listening figures for the channel are up 31% on last year’s.
The station, launched back in 2002, was under threat in 2010 after a BBC review of its outputs.
Elsewhere in the national radio stakes, BBC Radio 2 break records once again as the most-listened to station, while Radio 1 continues its decline with Nick Grimshaw’s new breakfast show slot suffering badly.
