We featured the new Banjo or Freakout single ’105′ as a Song Of The Day a couple of weeks ago citing it as a “delightfully wistful diversion from the norm”. Too true. Since Alessio Natalizia became a permanent fixture on our radar some 18 months back, his often aggressive and challenging live sound has been toned down in favour of a softer, more introspective style for his self-titled debut album – due out on Memphis Industries on 21 February.
Released earlier in the week, here’s the accompanying video for ’105′. On first listen, it could be dismissed as a languid foray into down-tempo shoegaze – but with repeated plays, Natalizia’s sympathetic ear for subtle instrumentation coupled with a solid knack for sincerity through melody offers up something truly sublime.
’105′ is available now on 7″ white vinyl via the Memphis Industries store.
