Band of Horses announce first album in five years with new single "Crutch"
Band of Horses are back with details of their sixth album Things Are Great, and have released new cut "Crutch" as a first taster of the record.
"Crutch" is the band's first new material since their 2016 album Why Are You OK, and arrives with news of their first album in over five years, Things Are Great.
Lead singler Ben Bridwell says of the new song, "I think like a lot of my songs, "Crutch" starts with something from my real life. Obviously "Crutch" means some of the things that I was dependent on. My relationship for one. I think I wanted to say, "I’ve got a crush on you", and I thought it was funny how relationships also feel like crutches. I feel like everybody has had a time when nothing goes right and you still have to carry on. I think that feeling hits you in this song even if you don’t know what the specifics are."
Things Are Great saw Bridwell step up to produce/co-produce every song on the album, and worked with frequent collaborators including Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle, Dave Fridmann and Dave Sardy, as well as engineer Wolfgang "Wolfie" Zimmerman.
