A$AP Ferg features on new version of Machinedrum's "Star"
Machinedrum has unveiled a new remix of his A View of U track "Star", which features A$AP Ferg.
"Star" was released as a single in September prior to the release of A View of U in October.
The original version featured Thundercat and Kendrick Lamar beatmaker Mono/Poly and vocals from Tanerélle, and today (8 December) Machinedrum has unveiled a new version of the song, which sees A$AP Ferg contribute a new verse to the song.
Machinedrum, A$AP Ferg and Tanerélle met up for a studio session in LA recently to record the remix.
A$AP Ferg says of his involvement, "I've been a fan of Tanerélle for a while now. When I first heard "Star" I kept playing it over and over again. The sound is super fresh – it puts you in a trance. Her voice takes the record over the top. I had to get on it."
Machinedrum adds, "Seriously one of the coolest guys I’ve ever worked with. He [A$AP Ferg] was wearing a Slipknot shirt and listening to distorted industrial techno when I walked in the studio and it was love at first sight."
Tanerélle comments, "The studio session was so heartening and electrifying. Working with Machine[drum] is always such an outer-body experience. There is no other feeling like matching frequencies with other creatives you admire and adore. Ferg is truly a trailblazer, so having him be a part of a song that means so much to me is still surreal. I’m forever grateful."
