Are My Chemical Romance reforming under different name to escape recording contract?
As you’ve probably heard, emo-poppers My Chemical Romance announced their split over the weekend after 12 years as a band. But is that really it? Some sources are saying that they’re set to reform under a new name.
Many of those at Kerrang! magazine and over at Reddit have been speculating on a series of hints and comments made by the band and their associates which suggest that the group split to escape their existing record deal.
As The Music Network point out, Kerrang! editor James McMahon was one of the first to spark the rumours, tweeting:
“Isn’t it weird that Gerard’s tweeted picture is of Houdini? Houdini escaped things. Fits with rumour of MCR “escaping” their record contract.”
Meanwhile, the wife of frontman Gerard Way posted the following message in the aftermath to the band’s split:
“I understand the need for change and the desire to begin again. The journey is always the best part. Though I will deeply miss MCR I have never met more talented and incredible people and more than anything I’m excited for what @gerardway @mikeyway @FrankIero@raytoro do next. I know it’s going to be amazing because they are each amazing. The future starts right now. A new adventure is about to take place and I for one will be on that ride! Who’s coming with me?”
