Arcade Fire record crowd chant to sample on next album

It looks like Arcade Fire are well into the process of creating their fifth album.

The Canadian titans aired new music at a secret New Orleans headline gig before topping the bill at Voodoo Music + Arts Experience the day after.

Chelsea Brasted, reporting for The Times-Picayune, gives some idea of what the new noises sound like: "The new music, driven by percussive-heavy beats with a flavor of disco, had a sharp focus on weighty topics. The band seem ready and eager to share their work with larger crowds... the latest news is that the next album isn't due until the spring 2017."

The release date, given by the band's Will Butler during a Reddit AMA, isn't set in stone, but if they've got new music to test out, maybe it's more realistic than first assumed?

As well as debuting some new music, Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler also led the crowd through some new na-na-na-y chants, which could very well end up on LP5.
