Apple is reportedly in talks to purchase Dr. Dre’s Beats Electronics for $3.2 billion.
The information is largely being attributed to a Financial Times report (note: link is good for subscribers only—but it’s being backed by the New York Times, Reuters and several other sources), and it seems a deal could be announced as early as next week.
Established in 2008, Beats Electronics is likely best known for their headphones, though they also make speakers, car stereos and other audio products. If the deal goes through, this would be Apple’s largest acquisition to date.
