Apple force HMV to remove new music app from App Store
Last week, HMV launched a new app and web store, with market leaders Apple now demanding they remove it from the App Store seemingly due to its popularity.
The download service is the troubled music chain’s latest attempt to modernise after their recent financial problems. As Music Week are reporting, Apple have requested their rivals remove the product with immediate effect, without properly giving a reason.
HMV haven’t yet responded to the request.
HMV initially went into administration back in January, with several stores shutting and many losing their jobs. They were rescued by financial restructuring group Hilco and are currently in the process of transition between proper owners.
