Amy Winehouse documentary in the works by Banksy producer
The filmmaking team behind recent Formula 1 flick Senna are set to turn their lens on a new Amy Winehouse documentary, currently in the works.
Director Asif Kapadia and producer James Gay-Rees, who also worked on Banksy doc Exit Through The Gift Shop, are part of the project they describe as: “an incredibly modern, emotional and relevant film that has the power to capture the zeitgeist and shine a light on the world we live in, in a way that very few films can.”
The pair continue in their press release: “As a society we celebrated huge success but then we were quick to judge her failings when it suited us.”
Winehouse passed away in 2011, after a long battle with alcohol and drug addiction.
