Amazon to offer free digital tracks with CD releases
Amazon have announced they are set to launch an auto-rip service with all their upcoming CD releases.
The online retailer are determined to boost physical sales by offering a policy similar to that of modern day vinyl sales.
In the same way as when you buy new records on vinyl, you get a download code, Amazon are set to offer free digital tracks with every CD sold.
That means that when you buy a CD from Amazon, they will also store the songs automatically for you on their Cloud digital music player.
Tech website, CNET have called it ”easily the most significant announcement involving the CD in years” and part of Amazon’s attempt to “sex up CDs”.
Amazon’s Cloudplayer launched in the UK back in September of last year.
