Allie X gives health update: "I survived. It’s been an extremely painful/enlightening time"
Allie X has returned to social media for the first time since March with a health update, revealing that she's "survived" and that it's "been an extremely painful/enlightening time".
Back in March Allie X cancelled her US tour dates in April and May, revealing that the "same autoimmune illness that inspired Cape God has flared up."
Allie X said in the statement that she was "bedridden and under a doctor’s care," and went on to reveal that sometimes her "body just stops working," and all she can do is "lie still, breathe through the pain and wait the weeks or months it takes to pass until I can work my limp up to run again."
Last night (1 June) Allie X shared her first Instagram post since March, and gave a health update, writing, "I survived. It’s been an extremely painful/enlightening time. Indeed pain and valuable perspective always seem to go hand in hand. There is so much I am grateful for. Thank you for all the kind messages of support and understanding I’ve received."
Allie X continued, "Getting so ill just before a tour sort of forced me to "come out" and be vulnerable about something I like to keep hidden or at least shrouded in art. Your response of respect and compassion has given me space to heal on a deeper level then I have ever allowed myself, thank you. I don’t have news on touring or new music at the moment, as I’m still not quite back at full capacity. But I look forward to all the adventures to come. And lots of love."
