Last night, Cali hip-hopper Ab-Soul released his new single ‘Christopher Droner’ online.
Named after the LAPD officer involved in series of police shootings last year, the track features chimes and bells over a trap beat, with some pretty controversial political lyrics (a sample: “Don’t go against my coalition/you can kiss my Colin Powell”) and even a 9/11 reference.
He may not be as hyped as other artists on the Top Dawg label such as Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q, but this new track shows off the artist’s undoubted strengths, proving how aware, confrontational and uncensored the rapper can be.
