A new Brian Eno documentary is on the way
A new career-spanning documentary about Brian Eno from Helvetica director Gary Hustwit is in the works.
The feature-length documentary, titled Eno, will use "groundbreaking generative technology in its creation and exhibition" to provide unique viewing experiences across various digital formats.
According to Pitchfork, Helvetica director Gary Hustwit is leading the project, and has been given access to hundreds of hours of unseen footage, Eno's unreleased music and visual art.
The two previously worked together on Hustwit's Rams documentary that arrived in 2018, which focused on designer Dieter Rams.
Hustwit said of the upcoming documentary, "He is the perfect subject to use this sort of approach. He’s turned down many previous projects because he didn’t want to do a conventional bio-doc ... I think of Eno as an art film about creativity, with the output of Brian’s 50-year career as its raw material."
The director and producer previously worked on a 2015 documentary about Mavis Staples titled Mavis!, and also produced Wilco's 2002 documentary I Am Trying to Break Your Heart: A Film About Wilco.
