10 July will be the start of Global Release Day
It's been confirmed that from 10 July 2015, records across the world will be released on a Friday.
Global Release Day, as it's come to be known, has been talked about for a long while, and earlier this year it was confirmed that it would be becoming a reality.
Germany, Australia and other countries already follow this way of scheduling, but the UK and US will be forced to make drastic changes.
For starters, the BBC Radio 1 Official Chart Show has been moved from its Sunday slot to Friday drivetime.
The co-founder of [PIAS], Michel Lambot, has recently written a blog post criticising the moves, saying that "If a global chart reigns supreme, development artists and local artists will have to get used to hearing the voice of America, everywhere. Big money, big global campaigns, will dominate. This can only help the blockbusters become even bigger, for a longer period of time, in more markets."
