Land of Talk share “Dogs” and “Cats” double single ahead of new album

14 October 2026, 14:50 | Written by Hayden Merrick

Lizzie Powell's Montreal-based indie project Land of Talk has released a double single, “Dogs” / “Cats”, with two music videos. Her forthcoming album LASTS is due 13 November 2026 via Saddle Creek.

Powell wrote “Dogs” to try and capture how listening to The Cure makes her feel. “I wasn’t sure exactly what that meant, but was thinking it would lend itself to looking back on loves lost, yearning, regret. What came out was a simmering rage borne from living under the patriarchy,” they said.

“Cats”, meanwhile, “unintentionally sounded not unlike mischievous cats breaking into our studio after hours and jumping all over the instruments,” Powell said in a press statement.

Both tracks follow lead single “4:44” and the announcement of album number six. Powell worked with Michael Feuerstack on the record, the Canadian indie legend and solo artist whose name crops up alongside the likes of John K. Samson, Eric's Trip, Arcade Fire, Jim Bryson. He played bass and pedal steel as well as engineering and mixing. The album was recorded in a cabin in rural Harrington, Quebec, and will be Powell’s first since 2023’s Performances.

Each track has its own video directed by Ana-Maria Espino Trudel, who has also worked with Nap Eyes and Eve Parker Finley. Check out the two videos below.
