Krooked Tongue announce debut album I Know A Place following fan-funded campaign
Bristol trio Krooked Tongue have detailed their first full-length LP, I Know A Place, which arrives 24 April via limited edition vinyl.
The independent rock band turned to GoFundMe to help cover recording costs, vinyl production, and a self-funded trip to New York City for the New Colossus festival in March. Supporters raised £1,000 in under two weeks.
Produced
by long-term collaborator Josh Gallop (Sergeant Thunderhoof, Mother
Vulture) at Bath’s Stage 2 Studios, the ten-track record moves away from
the band’s earlier EP work toward what they describe as a more mature
sonic identity.
"The title track from the debut album of the same name, ‘I Know A Place’, is a reference to the conflict and the game of chess played by authoritarian figures throughout history time and time again," Rainsford explains. "We live in turbulent times where people will too gladly pin their politics to the mast and let human connection fall by the wayside."
He adds that, despite its commentary on the bleak state of society, the band aims "to allow the listener to find escapism from reality."
Krooked Tongue first emerged with 2022’s No Vacancy Hotel EP, followed by Deathproof, their second EP, in May 2023. They have since supported Kid Brunswick on a UK tour and played at Tallinn Music Week, Dot to Dot, and New York’s New Colossus Festival. The band recently signed a publishing deal with Wipeout Music and joined TRUST Artists’ live roster.
